ABOUT ME

Elaine was awarded her Doctor of Philosophy in Education in 2018 at the University of Warwick in the UK. She is a Senior Fellow (SFHEA) of the Higher Education Academy (Advance HE), UK.

 

Elaine has developed and implemented research projects and works on research collaborations with other researchers. Her research focuses on curriculum development for TESOL, INSET and transnational education. Her other related fields of interests include trends in professional development, coaching and mentoring, online CPD, self-regulated learning and MOOCs. Her current research interests lie at the intersection of TESOL, SoTL, coaching and mentoring and CPDL. She has co-authored 34 publications to date. She has also been nominated for and received several awards for teaching in the UK (2016, 2017 and 2018) and the Excellent Service Award from the Ministry of Education in Malaysia (2005 and 2010).

Elaine currently works with the Academic Skills Development Team at Brunel University London. She is the Academic skills (ASK) contact for the College of Engineering, Design and Physical Sciences. She is also an External Examiner at two universities in the UK. Her previous roles include the following; Educational Developer and EAP Tutor (Associate Lecturer) at Lancaster University, Assistant Professor at the School of Education, University of Nottingham (Malaysia Campus), Foreign Language Tutor at the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom, Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Warwick, Advanced Skills Tutor at The Brilliant Club, UK, Teacher and Teacher Trainer with the Ministry of Education, Malaysia.
